mediacorp channel 5 screwed up!!

So Hubs and I were enjoying the movie “They” by Wes Craven on Channel 5. Suddenly at 11.30pm, the show started REPEATING from an earlier part, just as we were reaching the climatic end of the movie!!

This went on for a good 15 minutes. So we re-watched the same scenes we just did an hour ago. Hoping that whatever stupid person working the controls would snap out of it and give us the ending.

Then suddenly at 11.45pm, the (repeating) movie took an ad break. AND ENDED THERE JUST LIKE THAT AND LEFT US HANGING!!

Then the stupid Anne Heche “Men In Trees” dramedy started!!!!!!!

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE REST OF THE BLOODY MOVIE!?!?

MediaCorp (henceforth forever to be referred to as MediaCock) better post a PUBLIC apology tomorrow. That was one HELL of a BIG FUCK-UP.

C’mon lah, commercial broadcasters should be able to do better than that! How the fuck do they expect to “entertain” when they cut off the bloody show RIGHT BEFORE THE CLIMAX!?

I’m just going to subscribe to Starhub Cable and let them earn my ratings and money instead.

I tried to call MediaCorp, but obviously it was past office hours so there was obviously no response. I even tried calling the Mediacorp news hotline, but apparently that ALSO only operates within office hours. =_=”

MEDIACOCK, YOU SUCK!

Update: I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the trailer ad for the “Blockbuster Sunday” movie (AVP: Aliens VS Predator) has the voice-over announcing that the movie is airing “Tomorrow at 7.45pm” since Thursday, when the movie is actually going to be shown on Sunday.

  1. Hey there, me too!
Was watching eagerly throughout and WTF!!!
Initially I thought the re-run portion was part of the storyline, some flashback or time-loop plot but then WTF!!!

    Come’on MediaCock!!!
    This sucks big time…

  2. Hahaha i can understand your frustration. This is the same as fucking you all night and just when you’re about to cum, it suddenly withdraw leaving you cursing him to death on your bed LOL!!!

shell says: What a graphic analogy… But yes, it does feel like that lah! 😆

  4. YAH LAH!!! fucked up leh!! DH missed the first part so he was pleased that he got to watch it and we thought it was a re-hash/re-loop that eventually will lead us to UNDERSTANDING THE ENDING again for some reason only to just get cut off and HHUHUHHHH!!!! WTF.

Men in Trees… and then no on screen apology or whatever? WTF. So then how does the show end like that. BLAH

shell says: They did put up scrolling subtext claiming technical difficulties and that the show would be aired at a later date again. Which means we have to watch the WHOLE show again just for the last 15 minutes. 😕

  5. Absolutely Mediacock. Ever wonder how they win awards? I do.

All they did was scroll text, saying due to TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, the movie will be aired again in it entirety on a later date.

As I wrote to them on their website’s email feedback, it better not be the fella on duty accidentally rewinding the tape while watching porn.

How nice it is to have to wait for the movie to be shown in its entirety again, just to watch the last 15 minutes. Lucas Chow should add a couple of hokkien words to the end of his name, for being smug and proud of his station.

shell says: I also sent feedback email. But I think it would qualify more as a complaint email. 😆

If Mediacock is truly world-class, then I can only wonder if other foreign broadcasters screw up more often than this. The scrolling subtext wasn’t even an apology. They just claim technical difficulties and that was it.

  6. What happens usually is that the movies are usually split into 2 tapes because 1 tape is not enough to hold the entire movie.

I think someone keyed in the wrong tape number for Tape 2 (they used Tape 1’s ID number instead), and the machine auto-rewinded and played off Tape 1 again.

This is called “a score” in local broadcast people lingo, eg. “Shelly scored last night!” which means “Shelly screwed up last night!”

    Heh heh heh.

As for the trailer airing the wrong version: LAGI BAD because even though they have so many levels of approval, and they still mess it up? Either the schedulers made a booboo, or the on-air-promo side didn’t check properly (but believe me it happens)!

  7. coming from barffie, it seems so much more clearer what happened… and still not enough excuses for them (since this is sort of their bread and butter leh)
